Creative Portraiture
All creative portraiture starts with an idea, a concept, and a story to tell. Some creative portraits are just that, a simple portrait of an individual that isn't a headshot, and isn't being used in a commercial setting. An editorial tells a story, or compels the viewer to follow along through a series of pictures, taking their own path of what the images are representing.
Collaboration Is Key
Sometimes I approach a model with an idea. Other times, a model sees my work and brings an idea of their own—or a client simply wants something different from a traditional portrait of themselves or their family. It can be dramatic, playful, silly, edgy or anything else your imagination can come up with.
Experimenting and Pushing Boundaries
Some creative work explores vulnerability, body image or adult themes. For me, those elements need to serve the concept and the story—not simply exist for shock value. Some of the work above includes nude, nearly nude or implied-nude subjects because those choices were part of the artistic idea we developed together. In two of the mirror examples above, part of a 'Reflection' series, the model is nude and the thought provoking images of seeing ones self are stunning.

I pride myself on creating art in a safe, inclusive, judgment-free space, whether we're working in the studio or outdoors. Your comfort, and safety before, during, and after the shoot are my primary concern when shooting creative images with adult themes or subject matter.
