DANCE PORTRAIT FAQ
- 01As with my headshot sessions, they start at 30 minutes and can go as long as 2 hours. I prefer to not shoot longer than 2 hours as fatigue will set in on both of us!
- 02What styles can you dance? 😉
- 03Not at all. I prefer an improvisational dance set to a song that gets you rather than to a choreographed piece. Now, if you have a routine, by all means, we can shoot it.
- 04We photograph to your strengths. We will never have you 'try' something outside of your skillset, ever.
- 05The short answer is 'Yes!', but I consider everything I shoot to be artistic. If you mean something worthy of hanging in a gallery, definitely yes, and that is what these sessions are for. If you're an adult (meaning mature 18+) dancer who wants to push their artistic boundaries, I am committed to providing a SAFE and inclusive space where all are welcome to create. My studio is a judgment free zone.
- 06The short answer is my eyes know what works & looks good in frame, and how to get it. But more-so all of my years of musical theatre productions and working the choreographers from NY to Florida. Add to that one of my nieces has owned a wildly successful (and large) dance studio in upstate NY for the last 20 years and that many years ago I took tap and jazz, and a lot of MT choreography. I understand the lines, technique, feet, arms and how they should look in frame when doing a 'back attitude', 'double stag', 'firebird' or even static poses like a leg hold, tilt, needle, hinge.
